City Council Approved Fast Track

unanimously, 7 - 0

Yesterday evening, protesters outside City Council chambers opposed the Fast-Track, calling for healthy recreation and green jobs at Point Molate:

Green Jobs Not Casino Jobs

Health First

Casinos Bring Traffic, Crime, Addiction

ACT NOW: Send an email to city leaders telling them what you think, and copy the casino developers. All City council members voted in favor of the fast-track except Gayle McLaughlin and Ludmyrna Lopez who were absent.

Celebrate Your Independence on July 4 - Stop the Casino!

The latest tactic by Upstream developers is to promote their huge casino complex as an “eco-village." Their contract with the city runs out soon so they are stepping up PR efforts and trying to fast-track plans (see article, previous post).

Tell city leaders you want healthy outdoor recreation instead.
Here's how:

1. Send a letter to city officials (and copy the developers). Their emails are: GAYLE_MCLAUGHLIN@OFFICEOFTHEMAYOR.NET; elirapty@aol.com; natbates@comcast.net; ludmyrna@aol.com; johnemarquez@aol.com; tom.butt@intres.com; maria_viramontes@ci.richmond.ca.us; tonythurm@aol.com; harpreet_sandhu@comcast.net; bill_lindsay@ci.richmond.ca.us; ichoi@ci.richmond.ca.us; info@pointmolateresort.com

2. Come to the City Council Meeting on July 29 and speak out. Oppose fast- tracking the casino and ask for healthy recreation at Point Molate. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers, 1401 Marina Way, in Richmond.
(Go towards the water on Marina Way. Park in back, near the evening entrance.) Bring friends. This meeting is sure to be an interesting one.
